Christ Child Academy – 2nd Graders Learning Science
Christ Child Academy second graders were busy recently working as Erosion Scientists. They completed two science experiments.
In the first experiment, students created a model land form using a cornmeal mixture. Then they dripped water over this "land" to observe and study how water changed the shape of the land and to understand how, over long periods of time, canyons can be formed through a similar process. Students discovered that strong land forms turned into canyons or if the land form was a bit more unstable it created a landslide!
Then, students' brains were really put to the test in the second experiment! The students compared multiple solutions for preventing the erosion they saw in the first experiment. In this experiment, they designed and tested ways to keep water from washing away a hill made of the same cornmeal mixture. Learn More About Christ Child Academy >
